Specific Species: WITCHES

                Witches. The very name that makes humans quiver in their wake, and has grim reapers second guessing their choices. Witches are one of the most powerful species in the universe. They are feared by many humans. Most other species have no reason to fear a witch, due to them not being targeted as their choice of prey. However, witches do have their own reputation. It’s not a very good one. They are known to be fugitives against the laws of the universe due to their natural crime of feeding off of what keeps them alive: Souls.

                Witches are magic casters and do a lot of things through the conjuring of spells, hexes, or rituals in general. Their magic is beyond most capabilities and can be very unpredictable against their prey or enemies. Witches are so powerful, that most people wouldn’t challenge one. The worst part is that some witches don’t even have to cheat to win, but when provoked far enough, they will cheat. 

                Outcasts of Society:

                Witches can interact with other species, but they usually prefer not to. Since the law states that they are to be condemned when caught consuming souls, it’s much harder to trust the “inside” world’s inhabitants. Witches however, do interact with other clans when it is only necessary. Separate clans generally keep to themselves and like it this way. It can be thought of as a secret society of sorts. On the other end, other species do not mind being around witches since they much prefer humans more than other creatures. They also don’t think it’s their job to tattle to a grim reaper when a witch is around and seen eating a soul. Everyone is pretty much all for themselves.

                Witches are not a very trusted species. They break the law and are very murderous when it comes to their well-being. There are many stray witches in the universe but two major clans have been running strong for decades: The De’Joro Clan and the Han Dynasty Clan.

                The De’Joro Clan:

                The De’Joro clan is a clan of witches usually of the black descent. They reside on the lands of New Orleans, Louisiana in a village deep within an unmarked forest. This location is where the main village is settled. Clan members of the De’Joro name can be found all over the universe. This particular clan is mild-manner and wild as a whole. They rejoice in abusing the laws of the universe and giving grim reapers a hard time. This is all out of fun, especially when they know they are capable of getting away with it.

                They are seen a lot more often than other clans and are known to possess a blackened version of an animal entity inside them. They are powerful and usually attack in numbers; swooping up helpless prey after taunting and toying with their food. Regardless of how they do things, they are known to get any job done without getting caught…most of the time.

                The Han Dynasty Clan:

                This clan is a lot more serious than the De’Joro clan. This is an expansive clan of the Asian descent, and their empire can be found in Hong Kong, located in south eastern China. Han dynasty is the largest witch clan in the universe, having more than hundreds of members in their cursed and tarnished bloodline. They are a very proud and overly-strict clan and do things by the book. This clan is not afraid to outcast their own if they are not deemed worthy or have broken their own created laws. They’ll even go as far as carrying out executions.

                The Han dynasty is very exclusive and secretive about the things they do, and prefer to stay away from grim reapers. Reapers are still considered pests, but they will still eat souls regardless of the laws.

                The Hunger for Souls:

    Despite the laws against soul consumption, every witch’s standard diet consists of souls. Some witches can eat regular food, but eventually they are going to need souls to stay alive. Souls hold a magical essence that witches can absorb to be stronger and healthier. The major clans also need them for the entities that reside inside of them as well. The ironic thing is that reapers know witches need the souls, but soul consumption keeps them from doing their jobs and allowing the possessor of the soul to rest in peace.

    However, reapers don’t want to be known as genocidal, so they can’t just kill every witch. Instead, when a witch is caught committing the crime, that’s when a reaper shall take action. That's something all witches are fully aware about and they take the full advantage. This goes especially for the witch children. Clans are allowed their privacy behind the walls of their villages or empires, but when they leave those walls, it’s fair game for the reapers. Unfortunately, it works both ways. When witches leave their walls…everyone is endangered.

                Witches vs. Reapers

                A feud that has been going on for longer than anyone can remember. There will never be peace for as long as witches need souls to survive. It is a reaper’s job to harvest passing souls so they may rest in peace or just cross over in general. It is a witch’s instinct to kill and consume the souls of the dead or living to stay alive. Grim reapers have a high distaste for witches and usually see them as disgusting creatures. Witches are only seen as enemies and they would never form an alliance with them. Witches think reapers are stubborn, goody two-shoes that never give them a break about anything. Both species are definitely opposing to the other.

                Either way, witches are no laughing matter and must be stopped when they can. The grim reapers have their own school dedicated to stopping witches and collecting souls for the bettering of the universe, but witches will stop at nothing if it means they can keep living.

                A Witch’s End:

                Witches don’t live as long as "higher" grim reapers do. They are not immortal, but live in big families to keep their species alive. Most witches have the same life expectancy as the average human. This would normally give grim reapers relief, but during a witch’s lifetime, they do a lot of inevitable damage. The death of a witch could not be sooner. Some witches however, have their ways of gaining immortality, and that’s through the consumption of a reaper’s soul. They can’t live forever, but it does prolong their life expectancy. This is an extremely risky task to accomplish. Although witches are powerful, grim reapers are not that far behind. Not to mention if a witch were to eat the soul of a reaper, they will be on the list of execution forever. It is the top worst crime apart from eating souls in general, but some witches just can’t help themselves. A grim reaper’s soul is smoother in texture and extremely sweet and divinely succulent. This is because their souls have had time to age. The longer a soul has been around, the riper it is in flavor. Most witches become addicted to a reaper’s soul, but soon find their end when caught.
